It is very important for us to know about the three Bio-Energies which are known as Tridosha (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) that govern our body, which is the basic principle of Ayurveda. This chapter illustrates the qualities of each dosha, along with their effects on our body and which areas they cover. It also covers the different types of Vata, Pitta and Kapha that exist.
The three doshas in our body i.e. Vata, Pitta and Kapha are composed of the five basic elements of nature which are Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Space. Each Dosha has a certain role to play. This segment of the course explains to you in detail what Prakriti actually is and what are the physical & mental traits of each type. Here you also get an insight into the diseases that occur in our body when any of the Dosha is imbalanced.
This section of the course gives you a clear way to know and gauge the people according to what Prakriti they are. It has a questionnaire that describes all the physical, social, mental and other types of characteristics that each dosha possesses. This is the simplest and most easy way to learn.
According to Ayurveda, there are six types of tastes of food, and these tastes are specific to a person's Prakriti. These tastes can aggravate or balance the specific dosha. Ayurveda also emphasizes the importance of eating according to one's body type. So here you get a deep insight into the ayurvedic science of taste and food choices and how one should modify it according to his or her Prakriti to be healthy and disease-free.
Ayurveda states, like food and taste, the plant herbs are also specified according to the Prakriti of a person. The plant herbs are very potent and effective to balance the aggravated dosha in a person and keep the possible disease at bay. Our kitchen is a storehouse of many medicinal herbs which we don't know about. This section is all about learning the different types of herbs used for different diseases or illnesses, which ones should be taken, and which ones to be avoided for each dosha.
